Lennox AC Warranty: What’s Covered and How to Check Yours
Lennox’s basic limited warranty on a home AC covers parts only: 5 years on Merit and Elite series equipment and 10 years on the Dave Lennox Signature Collection. In Florida, eligible equipment automatically gets Lennox’s default extended limited warranty without registration, for 10 years of parts coverage in total on Merit and Elite and 12 years on the Signature Collection.

How to check yours
Have the model number, serial number and installation date ready, then look the unit up with Lennox.
Lennox’s online warranty lookup takes the serial number printed on the label on the equipment.

On a cooling system, the model and serial numbers are on the nameplate or sticker near the service panel.

To see extended coverage tied to your equipment, Lennox’s certificate lookup on the same page takes the serial or registration number and your last name.

Have the installation date ready: coverage starts on the day the equipment was originally installed (the closing date for a newly built home), and if that date can’t be verified it starts six months after the date of manufacture.

Warranty claims go through a Lennox dealer rather than the homeowner, and the basic limited warranty asks for a claim within 45 days of the part failing.

Registration and transfer
Florida homeowners don’t need to register: eligible Lennox equipment automatically comes with the default parts-only extended limited warranty.

For equipment bought in Florida, Lennox’s extended warranty says not registering neither reduces the coverage nor shortens it.

The labor option is the one step with a deadline: to switch to it, contact Lennox within 60 days of installation (or of closing on a newly built home), in Florida too.

Outside Florida and the other places Lennox lists, the extended warranty needs registration within 60 calendar days of installation.

If you bought the house, the basic limited warranty transfers to you; the extended limited warranty is for the original owner only and isn’t transferable, except where the law prohibits that limit. Labor coverage, when it was chosen, transfers for the rest of its 3 years.

Common questions
Does the Lennox warranty cover labor?
Not by default. Lennox’s factory warranty covers parts only. The labor option trades part of the extension for 3 years of labor coverage, and you have to choose it within 60 days of installation.
Do I need to register my Lennox AC in Florida?
No. Lennox says eligible equipment in Florida automatically comes with the default parts-only extended limited warranty. You only need to contact Lennox, within 60 days of installation, if you want the labor option instead.

Is a Lennox warranty still good after I buy the house?
The basic limited warranty transfers to later owners. Lennox says the extended limited warranty is for the original owner only and isn’t transferable, except where the law prohibits that limit.

Who files a Lennox warranty claim?
A Lennox dealer. Lennox says claims are submitted by a dealer, not by the homeowner, and the basic limited warranty asks for the claim within 45 days of the part failing.
