Goodman AC Warranty: What’s Covered and How to Check Yours

Goodman’s AC warranty covers parts for up to 5 years if the unit isn’t registered and up to 10 years if it is registered online within 60 days of installation. Goodman lists Florida among the states that don’t allow that coverage to be conditioned on registration, for units installed on or after July 1, 2024.

Have the model number, serial number and installation date ready, then look the unit up with Goodman.

Look up a Goodman warranty Register a Goodman product

The “Look up a Goodman warranty” button on this page opens Goodman’s own online warranty lookup. It asks for the serial number, the model number, your last name and the install type (residential, commercial or multi-family), and shows the complete limited warranty coverage once your last name is verified.

The first four digits of the serial number show when the unit was made, as year and month: a serial starting with 2511 means November 2025.

Have the installation date ready: coverage starts on the day the unit was originally installed (the day you bought a newly built home from the builder), and if neither can be verified it starts three months after the manufacture date.

For warranty service, contact a licensed contractor, who takes the failed part to a distributor for the replacement. Goodman’s certificate names Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing as the company providing the warranty.

Check which warranty fits the home: Goodman’s certificate has one warranty for units installed in owner-occupied residences and a different one for units installed in residences not occupied by the owner. Commercial properties have their own.

Registration and transfer

Registration isn’t required for coverage, but the longer registered term is only for units registered online within 60 days of installation.

In Florida, that registration condition doesn’t apply to units installed on or after July 1, 2024, according to Goodman’s state list. Without registration, and outside that rule, parts coverage lasts up to 5 years.

If you bought the house: the registered term normally lasts only while the original registered owner owns and lives in the home, but that limit doesn’t apply in states that require the warranty to transfer with the property. Goodman lists Florida as one, for units installed on or after July 1, 2023.

Parts that fail under normal use and maintenance: the manufacturer furnishes the replacement part, without charge for the part.

GSXC, GSXV, GSZC, GSZV, GVXC, GVZC, GLXT7C and GLZT7C models: if the compressor in a registered unit fails within 10 years of installation, the manufacturer furnishes a new, equivalent outdoor condensing unit, once.

GSXS6S, GSXS60, GSZS60, GZV6S, GZV7S, GXV6S, GXV9S and GZV9S models: the same 10-year compressor failure brings a new, equivalent unit to replace the entire unit, once.

Not covered

Labor, freight, refrigerant, and any other cost of service, of removing the failed part or of installing the new one.

Damage from faulty installation, and from floods, winds, lightning, a corrosive atmosphere or power surges.

Normal maintenance, such as cleaning the coils and cleaning or replacing filters.

Keeping it valid

Repairs needed because of improper use, maintenance, operation or servicing aren’t covered, and neither are parts not supplied or designated by the manufacturer.

A unit ordered online or by phone is covered only when a dealer installs it following all federal, state and local codes and licensing requirements.

Use approved refrigerant only: damage from unapproved, used or recycled refrigerant is excluded.

Do I have to register my Goodman AC in Florida?

Goodman lists Florida among the states that don’t allow warranty coverage to be conditioned on registration, for units installed on or after July 1, 2024. For a unit installed before then, check what’s on file with Goodman’s online warranty lookup.

Does the Goodman warranty cover labor?

No. Goodman’s certificate says it doesn’t pay for labor, freight or other costs of service, or for refrigerant. It furnishes the replacement part.

Does a Goodman warranty transfer when I buy a house?

Goodman lists Florida among the states that require the warranty to transfer with the property, for units installed on or after July 1, 2023. Coverage doesn’t continue if the unit is moved from where it was first installed.
