Daikin AC Warranty: What’s Covered and How to Check Yours

On the Daikin DC3SE, DC4SE, DC5SE, DC6VS and DC9VS air conditioners, parts are covered for up to 5 years if the unit isn’t registered and up to 12 years if it is registered online within 60 days of installation, and Daikin lists the DC3SQ and DC4SQ with a 12-year parts limited warranty for units registered online within 60 days. For the SE and VS models, Daikin’s certificates say Florida residents don’t need to register to get all the rights and remedies of registered owners.

How to check yours

Have the model number, serial number and installation date ready, then look the unit up with Daikin.

Look up a Daikin warranty Register a Daikin product

The “Look up a Daikin warranty” button on this page opens Daikin’s own online warranty lookup. It asks for the serial number, the model number, your last name and the install type (residential, commercial or multi-family), and shows the complete limited warranty coverage once your last name is verified.

Have the installation date ready: coverage starts on the day the unit was originally installed (the day you bought a newly built home from the builder), and if neither can be verified it starts three months after the manufacture date noted on the unit.

For warranty service, contact a licensed contractor, who takes the defective part (or the unit, for a unit replacement) to a Daikin distributor.

Check which warranty fits the home: Daikin’s certificates have one warranty for units installed in owner-occupied residences and a different one for units installed in residences not occupied by the owner. Commercial properties have their own.

Registration and transfer

Registration isn’t required for coverage, but the longer registered term is for units registered online within 60 days of installation.

Florida residents don’t need to register, or to name their maintenance contractor in advance, to get all the rights and remedies of registered owners. Daikin’s state list applies Florida’s rule to units installed on or after July 1, 2024.

Without registration, and outside that rule, parts coverage lasts up to 5 years.

If you bought the house: for units installed in Florida, the registered term runs up to 12 years after installation rather than only while the original owner lives there, and Daikin lists Florida among the states that require the warranty to transfer with the property, for units installed on or after July 1, 2023.

Covered

Parts found defective in workmanship or materials under normal use and maintenance: Daikin furnishes the replacement part, without charge for the part.

DC6VS and DC9VS (and the other models on the same certificate): if the compressor fails within 12 years of installation and the maintenance conditions are met, Daikin furnishes a new, equivalent unit to replace the entire unit, once.

Not covered

Labor, freight, refrigerant, and any other cost of service, of removing the defective part or unit or of installing the replacement.

Damage from faulty installation, and from floods, winds, lightning, a corrosive atmosphere or power surges.

Normal maintenance, such as cleaning the coils and cleaning or replacing filters.

Keeping it valid

For the unit replacement term: the outdoor unit must be installed with a new, properly matched indoor coil or air handler, maintained every year by a licensed contractor, and the owner must keep written records of that maintenance.

If Daikin asks, the registered owner must certify that a licensed contractor maintained the unit every year and that written records were kept.

Repairs needed because of improper use, maintenance, operation or servicing aren’t covered, and neither are parts not supplied or designated by the manufacturer.

What does the Daikin unit replacement warranty require?

A new, properly matched indoor coil or air handler installed with the unit, maintenance every year by a licensed contractor, and written records of that maintenance.
